Image Trail
Image Trail is an image interaction in the UI HUB image interactions collection. A pointer-trail image effect: as the cursor moves across the container it stamps rotated photos that pop in with a spring and fade/scale out after a set duration. A distance threshold and a minimum delay throttle spawns, the image list cycles and maxItems caps the trail.
The component is driven by 11 documented props (images, threshold, minDelay, duration, maxItems, rotationRange and 5 more), so colours, intensity, timing and density can be tuned from the call site instead of being hard-coded.
Implementation notes: Pointer-move throttling via distance threshold + min delay; Cycling image index and maxItems cap; Framer Motion AnimatePresence enter/exit.
Preview the image interaction in the browser above, copy the source, and paste it into your project. Image Interactions components in UI HUB are grouped by category so you can compare effects side by side before choosing one.
What is Image Trail?

How Image Trail works
A pointer-trail image effect: as the cursor moves across the container it stamps rotated photos that pop in with a spring and fade/scale out after a set duration. A distance threshold and a minimum delay throttle spawns, the image list cycles and maxItems caps the trail. Timeouts are tracked in a Set and cleared on unmount; images render inside a pointer-events-none overlay so underlying content stays interactive.

Which category does Image Trail belong to?
Image Trail is listed under Image Interactions in the UI HUB catalog. Image components that respond to the pointer: 3D tilt cards, cursor-following image trails, distortion and ripple transitions, draggable collages and hover-reveal stacks. These are built to sit inside real content grids, so they accept standard image props and keep alt text intact. Each one lists its transform maths in the props table.
What does the images prop do in Image Trail?
Images stamped along the pointer trail (strings or { src, alt }). It defaults to DEFAULT_IMAGES.
What does the threshold prop do in Image Trail?
Minimum pointer travel in px before a new trail image spawns. It defaults to 80.
Is Image Trail free to use?
Image Trail is a free component on UI HUB. You can preview it in the browser and read the full props table on the component page.
Which libraries does Image Trail use?
Image Trail uses React and Framer Motion and is styled with Tailwind CSS.
What does Image Trail need to run?
Image Trail needs Pointer-move throttling via distance threshold + min delay, Cycling image index and maxItems cap, Framer Motion AnimatePresence enter/exit and Timeout Set cleared on unmount.
